The Spnday assistant
What can I safely spend today?
Spnday answers one question: what can you safely spend today? Not what you spent last month. Just the amount you can spend without running short before your next income arrives.
Getting started
It takes about a minute, and you can start on any day of the month.
- 1. Your money: cash plus what is in your account.
- 2. Next income: salary, payment or transfer.
- 3. What is due: rent, bills and subscriptions.
- 4. What to protect: savings and minimum balance.
The number on Today
The big number is your safe pace — what you can spend today.
money you have − bills due before your next income − savings you haven't set aside yet − your minimum balance ───────────────────────────────── = flexible money ÷ days until your next income = your safe pace
- Today counts. The day your income arrives does not.
- Money you do not spend spreads across the days that remain. Spend more than your pace and the coming days adjust down.
What the colours mean
The colour compares your safe pace with what a normal day costs you.
Green — you’re fine
Your pace covers a normal day, with breathing room when it is at least 1.5× normal.
Yellow — worth a look
Your margin is thin, you went over yesterday, or recent spending is above pace.
Red — needs attention
Flexible money is gone, protected money is being used, or the plan no longer fits.
The status pill always says why, not just what colour. Tap it for the full explanation.
Cycles and income
A cycle is the stretch from one income to the next. It includes a start date, next income date, savings target and bills due before that income.
When income arrives, Spnday shows a summary of the cycle that ended, asks when the next income is expected and starts a new cycle. Your routines, bills and protections carry over.
Monthly, every-two-weeks, weekly and irregular income are supported. For irregular income, tell Spnday how long the money needs to last.
Protected money
Protected money is set aside before anything is called spendable.
- Bills stay protected until you mark them paid.
- Savings stay aside inside your balance.
- Minimum balance is a cushion you never go below.
If a bill passes its due date unpaid, it stays protected and shows as overdue.
A normal day and routines
Your normal day is what an ordinary day costs — coffee, lunch, transport. It comes from a figure you set, your routines, or a default for your currency.
Routines are expectations, never charges. They help Spnday understand what normal means and give you one-tap buttons to log what you actually bought.
Before you spend, and day by day
Tap What if? to see what a purchase would do to your pace before recording it. Nothing is saved unless you choose to record it.
In the Month tab, tap the month name to open the calendar. Days are shaded by spending, with routines shown for comparison. Switch to Range to total a period, see categories and filter money out, money in or bills.
When the numbers drift
Manual tracking can drift. Open Rules → Balance and enter what your bank or wallet actually shows. Spnday records the difference as untracked spending or a correction so your plan matches reality again.
Doing this once a week keeps everything honest. A large difference turns the status yellow or red to show the plan drifted, not that you did something wrong.
Widgets and reminders
Add a widget for your safe amount without opening the app. The medium widget has quick buttons to add an expense or record money received. Turn on Hide amounts to show ••• instead.
Optional reminders include bill due tomorrow, payday, evening check-in and a nudge after a few quiet days. They are scheduled on your phone; there is no server.
Languages, currencies and backups
Spnday speaks English, French and Arabic. It supports TND, EUR, USD, GBP, MAD and DZD.
Your data lives only on your phone, so a backup is the way to move to a new device or recover after uninstalling. Use Rules → Backup → Export to create a file, and Restore to read one back. Treat it like a bank statement and keep it private.
Erasing everything
Rules → Erase all data removes your plan, bills, routines and history from the phone. It cannot be undone. Uninstalling the app removes its database too.
Common questions
Do I need a bank account or a card?
No. Spnday never connects to a bank and never asks for banking details. You type in what you have.
Do I need an account or a password?
No. There's no sign-up. Open the app and use it.
Does my data go anywhere?
No. It's stored only on your phone and is never uploaded. The only exception is a backup file, which you export and place yourself.
I started mid-month. Is that a problem?
No — that's the normal case. Enter today's balance and Spnday plans from here. It never asks you to reconstruct the past.
Why did my pace not change when I paid a bill?
Because that money was already protected. Paying it moves it out of your balance and out of the protected pile at the same time, so your spendable amount is unchanged.
I spent more than today’s amount. What now?
Nothing breaks. The coming days adjust downward to absorb it, and the app tells you the new pace. There is no penalty and no lecture.
Why is my status yellow when I have money in the bank?
Because most of it is spoken for. Yellow compares what's left after protection with what a normal day costs you — not your balance.
